A Nigerian woman has accused Guaranty Trust Bank, GTBank, of delaying the release of funds belonging to her late mother.
The woman identified a bank employee, Samuel Gbenro, attached to GTBank’s Airport Road branch in Lagos, and said efforts to resolve the matter have continued for more than a year.
She claimed to have sent several emails to the bank and visited different branches to pursue the complaint, but said the issue remains unresolved.
According to her, the funds are yet to be released to the family, raising concerns that an unauthorised person could gain access to the account.
She has called on the bank to explain the reason for the alleged delay.
The claims have generated reactions on social media, with some users urging GTBank to clarify the circumstances surrounding the matter.
GTBank has not been quoted in the report as responding to the allegations.
