A U.S. federal court in Washington, D.C., has rejected a request by Aaron Greenspan to obtain evidence from Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu and DCI Group in an ongoing Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
Ruling on October 30, 2026, the District Court for the District of Columbia held that Greenspan’s proposed discovery regarding alleged cyberattacks on his website was irrelevant to the FOIA dispute involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The court also turned down a request by Karl Von Batten to file an amicus curiae brief, while denying Greenspan’s motions for summary judgment and judicial notice.
Reacting to the decision, defense attorneys, Christopher Carmichael and Oluwole Afolabi, stated that the court established clear procedural boundaries by ruling that a FOIA proceeding cannot be used to pursue unrelated discovery.
The underlying FOIA litigation involving the FBI and DEA remains ongoing.
