Manchester United Plan Private Friendly to Prepare Key Duo for Arsenal Clash

Manchester United are reportedly looking to organize a behind-closed-doors friendly this week in a bid to accelerate the fitness of two key players ahead of their Premier League opener against Arsenal.

The Red Devils are set to launch their 2025/26 campaign at Old Trafford this Sunday, where they’ll face off against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side.

Ruben Amorim’s men wrapped up their official pre-season fixtures with a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina on Saturday. Prior to that, United had taken on domestic competition in Leeds United, West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton during their summer schedule.

Following the Fiorentina encounter, Amorim indicated he had a preliminary idea of the starting XI for Sunday’s clash. However, he challenged his squad to train with intensity and determination throughout the week in order to potentially alter his decision.

That opportunity is expected to come in the form of the proposed friendly, which is being arranged to offer match-style conditions. According to The Times, United hope to face a nearby opponent to give striker Benjamin Sesko and goalkeeper Andre Onana some crucial match practice as they push for full readiness ahead of the league curtain-raiser.
