Odumodublvck Says Lagos is “Worst Place” for Young Artists to Grow
The Abuja-born rapper warns that the city breeds selfishness, claiming his roots gave him an advantage in the music industry.

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has stirred conversation on social media after declaring Lagos the “worst place” for emerging artists to build their careers.
The Abuja-based star, known for his bold views, claimed the country’s commercial hub fosters greed, selfishness, and self-centeredness among creatives.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: “The worst place for a young artist to grow is Lagos. It’s the most selfish place to grow. You will become them; a greedy, selfish, and self-centered packaged beast.”
Odumodublvck contrasted his own journey with that of Lagos-bred acts, saying his upbringing in Abuja gave him an authenticity that helped him stand out in Nigeria’s competitive music industry.
“That’s why it was easy to run through the industry as The Machine wey I be. I too real for una,” he added.
His comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with fans debating whether Lagos remains the country’s ultimate launchpad for talent or if other cities are rising as creative hubs.
