Nigerian Business Icon Alhaji Aminu Dantata Dies at 94

The elder statesman and industrialist passed away after a brief illness in Abu Dhabi; funeral arrangements to be announced soon.

Prominent Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has died at the age of 94.

Family sources confirmed that the elder statesman passed away in the early hours of Friday in a hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, following a brief illness. He died around 3am Nigerian time.

Dantata, born on May 19, 1931, in Kano, was a towering figure in Nigeria’s business scene for several decades. A respected industrialist, he played a significant role in shaping the country’s private sector and was widely regarded as one of the patriarchs of modern Nigerian commerce.

He is survived by seven children and numerous grandchildren, including Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
