Mavin Records has distanced itself from talent manager Lotanna Harry, stating that he has no authority to represent the label or conduct business on its behalf.
In a notice issued by its Legal Affairs Department on September 10 and published on Wednesday, September 16, the label alleged that Harry had used its name and logo while presenting himself as an authorised representative.
Mavin said its dealings with Harry were limited to his engagement as a paid video model on a subcontract basis for selected productions, stressing that he was never appointed as an agent, representative, intermediary or management staff.
The label consequently warned the public, clients and business partners against conducting transactions with Harry based on claims that he represents Mavin Records.
It added that any agreement or communication made by him in the company’s name is unauthorised and does not bind the label.
Mavin also reserved the right to take legal action over any unauthorised use of its name, logo or business interests, saying the disclaimer was intended to protect its artists, partners, clients and the public.
Reacting to the notice, Harry described the matter as a misunderstanding and confirmed that he is neither an employee nor a member of Mavin’s management.
