Manchester United will modify their newly unveiled third kit for Champions League matches this season to comply with UEFA regulations.
The Adidas design features only the fireball emblem of shirt sponsor Snapdragon, omitting the company’s name.
However, UEFA rules require clubs to use an identical sponsor logo across all registered competition kits.
As a result, United will add the full “Snapdragon” wordmark beneath the emblem when the third kit is worn in the Champions League.
The club confirmed the adjustment in a statement on its official website.
“The Reds are set to wear the jersey when necessary across domestic competitions this term, although UEFA regulations dictate that the ‘Snapdragon’ wordmark will be added to our players’ shirts for any Champions League matches in which it is worn.
“This is due to the requirement that the same version of a logo must be utilised across all of a club’s kits in the tournament, necessitating that the sponsor on the third strip aligns with that on our new home and away kits, which include the wordmark,” the statement elaborated.
