L.A.X, Wife Hold Nikkah Ceremony After Malta Civil Wedding

Afrobeats singer Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X, and his wife, Ella, have held their Nikkah ceremony, months after their civil wedding in Malta.
The Islamic marriage ceremony took place on Thursday night, formalising the couple’s union under Islamic rites.
Their civil wedding was held in Naxxar, Malta, in September. L.A.X announced the occasion in an Instagram post, describing the city as special to the couple.
“Legally hitched to the love of my life, in the most beautiful city, Malta, you have our hearts,” he wrote.
Thursday’s ceremony featured an opening prayer, guest introductions, Qur’an recitation, thanksgiving, a naming ceremony, the Nikkah, prayers and blessings, as well as a donation to the mosque.
The inclusion of a naming ceremony in the programme generated speculation on social media about a possible conversion to Islam by Ella. However, there has been no confirmation that she has converted.
The Nikkah is the latest in a series of celebrations marking the couple’s union. They got engaged on January 16, 2026, held their traditional wedding rites in June and celebrated their civil wedding in Malta in September.
A grand reception is scheduled for November 1.
