The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges across the country will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, assuring parents, students and other stakeholders that adequate security arrangements have been put in place.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, according to Boriowo Folasade, Director, Press and Public Relations in a Statement, gave the assurance in Abuja, saying the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained a priority of the Federal Government.
Alausa disclosed that relevant security agencies had been informed of the resumption plans and were maintaining heightened vigilance around the colleges and their immediate environments.
He said the coordinated security measures were designed to safeguard students, staff and school communities as academic activities resume nationwide.
The Minister therefore urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective Federal Unity Colleges on Monday as scheduled.
He also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure an orderly and secure resumption.
Alausa called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful and supportive learning environment, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of learners remained a shared responsibility.
The Ministry said it would continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the smooth and safe resumption of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges.
It reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the education system and ensuring that Nigerian children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive environment.
The Ministry said the commitment was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places education and human capital development at the centre of Nigeria’s sustainable growth and national development.
