Wizkid Reveals Daughter’s Name in Heartfelt Tribute to Late Mother

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has officially revealed the name of his infant daughter—Morayo Balogun—in a touching tribute to his late mother.

The announcement came just a day after the singer made a rare public appearance with his 6-month-old daughter and her mother, Jada Pollock, at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The occasion marked the premiere of his highly anticipated documentary, Wizkid: Long Live Lagos.

Wizkid and his daughter melted hearts as they stepped onto the red carpet in matching white outfits, capturing attention with their coordinated look. Jada complemented the family’s style in a pink-and-white tie-dye dress, paired with bold red sunglasses.

On Saturday, Wizkid took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to share the name of his daughter for the first time. In a simple yet emotional tweet, he wrote:

Morayo Balogun

The name “Morayo” is believed to honor Wizkid’s late mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in 2023—a loss the artist has spoken about with deep emotion.

Fans first speculated about the child’s birth earlier this year when Wizkid referred to his “princess” in a heartfelt post on X. While the singer and Jada Pollock have kept much of their family life private, this latest appearance signals a more open chapter for the couple.

Wizkid and Jada welcomed their first child together, Zion Ayo-Balogun, in 2017, and their second child followed in October 2022. Morayo is their third.

The couple’s relationship has faced ups and downs over the years. In 2023, breakup rumors swirled after Wizkid declared he was single, prompting a sharp public response from Jada. The tension escalated again last month when Jada unfollowed the singer on Instagram, hinting at another possible split.

However, their united front at the Tribeca Film Festival—complete with matching family outfits—has left fans wondering if the pair might be rekindling their relationship.

Whether or not the breakup rumors are behind them, one thing is clear: the name Morayo Balogun carries deep personal meaning—and marks a tender chapter in Wizkid’s journey as both an artist and a father.
