Veteran Nollywood actress Toyin Afolayan, popularly known as Lola Idije, has dismissed claims that actress Sotayo Gaga is proud or wicked, attributing such perceptions to her colleague’s reserved personality.
Lola Idije made the clarification during an interview with African A-List, where she described Sotayo as a good-natured person whose preference for solitude is often misunderstood by people who do not know her personally.
According to the veteran actress, Sotayo’s quiet disposition should not be mistaken for arrogance, as she simply enjoys spending time alone.
“Sotayo is a good child, a blessed child. If people don’t go close to her, they will say she is strict. Sotayo loves being alone; it isn’t pride, just like me,” she said.
The actress also identified with her colleague’s personality, explaining that she does not naturally engage in playful interactions outside her acting roles.
“Like me, I only joke when I am acting; I don’t know how to do it otherwise,” she added.
Her comments offer a defence of Sotayo against negative perceptions surrounding her personality, while highlighting how reserved behaviour can sometimes be interpreted as pride.
