Abuja-based Hood FC have claimed the 2026 5Stars Premier League title after defeating Lagos side Sir J FC 4-1 in the final.
The decisive victory at Showtime Arena in Lekki, Lagos, on Saturday, September 5, extended Abuja’s dominance of the competition, with no club from another region winning the championship since its launch in 2019.
After a tightly contested first half ended 1-1, Hood FC produced a stronger second-half display, scoring three unanswered goals to secure the trophy and N4 million prize.
The eighth edition of the tournament, themed “The Reawakening 8,” received backing from corporate partners including MTN Nigeria, PUMA Nigeria and Devon King’s.
International grassroots football development advocate Ricky Weir also supported the event by donating sporting equipment and interacting with players during the finals.
Beyond the title and financial reward, the competition offered young footballers an opportunity to gain exposure to international scouts, agents and club officials, with several impressive performers reportedly attracting interest for possible professional opportunities overseas.
