Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has labelled Liverpool as the favourites for the Premier League title following their record-breaking capture of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. Liverpool, who beat the Gunners to the league crown last season under Arne Slot, sealed the Swedish striker’s arrival on deadline day in a £125 million deal — the highest transfer fee in British football history. Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s weekend clash, Arteta admitted the addition of Isak makes the Reds the team to beat. “Well, they are the strongest for sure,” Arteta told reporters on Friday.“They have recruited probably the most, the two most decisive players that there were in Europe in the market. And they’ve done really well to recruit that. “They are very strong. But we need to look at ourselves and what we need to do in terms of our abilities to be better than them. That’s it.” The Gunners, who finished second last season, will be hoping to mount another strong title challenge despite Liverpool’s strengthened squad.
