Rio Ferdinand Foresees Stalemate in Arsenal vs. Manchester United Premier League Opener

Former England international and Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has offered his prediction ahead of this weekend’s highly anticipated Premier League encounter between Arsenal and Manchester United.

Arsenal are set to kick off their 2025–26 campaign with a challenging away fixture at Old Trafford on Sunday, where they’ll take on a revamped United side in what promises to be a thrilling curtain-raiser.

Ferdinand, speaking on his official YouTube platform, forecasted a 1-1 draw between the two sides. The result would mirror their previous Premier League meeting earlier this year, which also ended in a stalemate.

With both teams expected to debut new strikers in their attacking line-ups, the former centre-back expressed confidence that the match would be tightly contested. Dismissing predictions that Manchester United might fall short, Ferdinand said, “I’m going draw. I’m going to go score draw. 1-1.”

On the other side of the debate, ex-Arsenal forward Theo Walcott offered a contrasting viewpoint during his appearance on the Called Soccer! podcast. Walcott backed his former club to claim all three points, tipping Gabriel Martinelli to find the back of the net and seal a narrow win for the Gunners.
