Shearer Backs Chelsea to Challenge for Premier League Title Under Maresca

Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has expressed confidence in Chelsea’s ability to compete for the Premier League title in the upcoming season, placing them alongside Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City as serious contenders.
Chelsea secured a top-four finish last season, trailing behind Liverpool, Arsenal, and eventual champions Manchester City. With a new season approaching, Shearer believes the Blues are poised to build on their recent progress.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer responded affirmatively when asked if Enzo Maresca’s side has what it takes to challenge for the title.
“I do, yeah,” he said. “I don’t think they are finished in terms of their transfer business. I think there will be more come in and go out as well.”
He praised Chelsea’s approach in the transfer market, describing their signings as “very smart” and “clever,” and predicted that further squad adjustments are likely before the season starts.
“So I think they will [challenge for the Premier League], absolutely,” Shearer added. “They will build on what they have achieved this season — Conference League, qualifying for the Champions League — and they will go again.”
