FIFA Investigates Alleged Racial Abuse Against Rüdiger in Club World Cup

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that FIFA has launched an investigation into allegations that Antonio Rüdiger was racially abused by Gustavo Cabral during their 3-1 victory over Pachuca in the Club World Cup on Sunday.
The incident took place five minutes into stoppage time, following a clash between Rüdiger and players from the Mexican club after the defender was fouled.
After speaking with Rüdiger, referee Ramon Abatti signaled the activation of the anti-racism protocol by crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Alonso stated that Real Madrid will fully support the 32-year-old defender.
“That’s what Rüdiger said, and we believe him,” Alonso said. “It is important to have zero tolerance in these kinds of situations. FIFA now is investigating. That’s all I can say.”
Meanwhile, Cabral denied the racial abuse claims, saying he called Rüdiger “chickens” after the game.
FIFA will officially commence its investigation once they receive the referee’s report.
