Yinka Quadri Recalls Ogogo’s Final Words: ‘Don’t Cry, Nothing Will Happen to Me’

Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has recounted the emotional final moments he shared with his longtime friend, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, hours before his death.

Quadri, who described Ogogo as his “twin brother from heaven,” said the late actor remained reassuring during their final encounter at the hospital despite his condition.

Ogogo died on Sunday after battling stage four cancer and was buried the following day in his hometown in Ilaro, Ogun State.

In a lengthy tribute shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Quadri recalled breaking down in tears when he visited Ogogo at the hospital.

According to him, Ogogo noticed his tears and tried to comfort him.

“Yinka, don’t cry. Nothing bad will happen to me,” Ogogo told him, according to Quadri.

Quadri said he responded with “Yes, Amen,” holding on to the hope that his friend would recover.

He also recounted another moment during the visit when Ogogo asked him to hand over a bottle of water.

After drinking the water, Ogogo reportedly pointed out that he had been able to drink despite having eaten earlier that day.

Quadri said Ogogo subsequently asked doctors to confirm whether he had indeed eaten that morning, and they confirmed that he had.

The development, according to Quadri, strengthened his faith at the time.

He said he thanked God and became more hopeful about Ogogo’s recovery, although the doctors advised those around him to continue praying.

Quadri, who was visibly emotional during Ogogo’s funeral, has repeatedly described their relationship as exceptionally close, saying they were like brothers despite being born to different mothers.

The actor’s latest account offers a glimpse into his final hours and the bond he shared with one of Nollywood’s respected veterans.
