The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Imcomtel Engineering Limited have inspected the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation Project ahead of the next major phase of equipment installation.
The inspection, conducted on Thursday, September 24, 2026, was led by the Assistant General Manager (Transmission), Katsina Sub-Region, Engr. Usman Idris, who received the Imcomtel delegation led by Engr. Emmanuel Okafor.
The team assessed ongoing civil works, equipment locations and other supporting infrastructure to determine the readiness of the project site for the next stage of development.
A major focus of the inspection was the two 100MVA power transformers delivered to the substation on July 9, 2026, and their designated plinths.
The transformers are expected to significantly increase transmission capacity in Katsina State and improve electricity supply infrastructure across the North-West region when installed and commissioned.
The team also inspected four newly delivered control rooms to assess their readiness to accommodate critical protection, monitoring and control systems required for the operation of the substation.
At the end of the inspection, TCN and Imcomtel agreed on the outstanding technical requirements and site preparations needed to facilitate smooth coordination as the project progresses towards completion.
The inspection team included TCN’s Principal Manager, Engr. Mustapha Idowu, alongside heads of technical departments.
