Bose Ogulu, mother and manager of Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Burna Boy, has revealed how she manages her son when his social media activity becomes excessive.
Ogulu disclosed this during an interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Channels TV, where she discussed Burna Boy’s personality and his sometimes controversial online presence.
According to her, she has learnt not to suppress the qualities that make the singer who he is.
She likened artists to a tapestry, warning that trying too hard to alter one aspect of their personality could affect the qualities that make them unique.
Ogulu also noted that fans often admire the same emotions and traits that can sometimes lead to controversial moments.
She said the approach within the family is therefore to give Burna Boy room to express himself while stepping in when necessary.
“I usually grab his phone from him anytime he goes wild on Instagram Live,” Ogulu said.
Her comments highlight the balance she has had to strike as both Burna Boy’s mother and manager, particularly when his unfiltered moments online attract public attention.
Burna Boy has built a reputation for his outspoken personality, with his Instagram Live appearances occasionally generating discussions among fans and the wider public.
