Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), Peter Obi has urged politicians to focus on issues and avoid turning political differences into personal conflicts.
Speaking at the 22nd All Nigeria Editors Conference in Enugu, the NDC presidential candidate also dismissed reports of a rift with Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
“There is no issue between me and Soludo. Soludo and I are close. He is the governor, he is my governor”, Obi said.
He also maintained that his administration left Anambra with savings, rather than the debts being attributed to it.
“The day I came in, what I met was $18 million debt. When I left, it was $30 million. I left $150 million”, he said.
Obi called on the media to scrutinise politicians based on their records, qualifications and policies, while demanding free and credible elections.
“If any of us have done something wrong, come out and tell us, so that the children can learn. You can guide us”, he said.
He also urged political actors to respect one another despite their differences, stressing that public officials should be held accountable without resorting to personal attacks.
