The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says significant progress has been recorded in the restoration of the 330kV Kainji–Birnin Kebbi Transmission Line following the collapse of tower T367 in Yauri.
TCN, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the collapsed tower had been completely dismantled and decommissioned, while the conductors and skywire had been properly aligned and prepared for the next phase of the restoration.
The company said an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower had also been moved to the affected location and was ready for installation.
According to TCN, the installation of the ERS tower will be followed by cable stringing and other associated works required to restore the affected transmission line.
It said its engineers and technical personnel remained actively engaged at the site and were working to complete the restoration and return the line to service as quickly as possible.
“TCN appreciates the patience and understanding of electricity consumers and other stakeholders affected by the incident and assures the public that every effort is being made to restore the line and consequently, normal bulk transmission as soon as possible,” the statement said.
