Nigeria’s Super Falcons have announced six nominees for the Fans’ Player of the Tournament award following their remarkable triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
In a post on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, the team invited supporters to cast their votes for the standout star who made the biggest impact throughout the tournament. “They showed up when it mattered most,” the post read, encouraging fans to make their voices count.
The shortlisted players are:
- Jennifer Echegini
- Esther Okoronkwo
- Ashleigh Plumptre
- Folashade Florence Ijamilusi
- Rasheedat Ajibade
- Chinwendu Ihezuo
These six women were instrumental in Nigeria’s journey to clinch a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
The Falcons sealed the championship in dramatic fashion on Saturday, edging host nation Morocco 3-2 in a pulsating final. Goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Florence Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini proved decisive as Nigeria once again asserted its dominance on the African football stage.
