The APC’s internal crisis in Oyo State is taking another turn, as former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has decided against challenging the party’s governorship primary in court.
Adelabu, who was one of the aspirants seeking the APC ticket, said he would not pursue an appeal or legal action despite what he described as serious concerns about the primary process.
He said the decision was taken after consultations with party leaders and supporters across the state, with the aim of preserving unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
The former minister stressed that his decision should not be interpreted as a lack of evidence or conviction.
“This decision is not because of a lack of evidence, confidence or conviction. Neither should it be interpreted as an act of surrender or an indication that my aspiration to serve as Governor of Oyo State is a do-or-die affair”.
Adelabu said the party still needs to address complaints over the conduct of the primary, particularly concerns about the absence of publicly declared and verifiable results.
He said many APC members feel their votes, sacrifices and contributions were disregarded in the nomination process.
The former minister also called on the party’s national leadership to initiate a credible reconciliation process involving aggrieved aspirants and members.
He warned that unresolved grievances could undermine the APC’s chances in the 2027 election, stressing that electoral success would depend on the support of members at the grassroots.

Adelabu maintained that his ambition to govern Oyo remains driven by a desire to serve the people and contribute to the state’s development.
