Wingback for the Super Eagles Ola Aina reacted to his missed penalty kick in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semifinals over Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
In an AFCON semifinal on Wednesday night, Nigeria overcame South Africa 4-2 via penalty shootout.
After 120 minutes of play, the semifinal match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Aina sent the ball over the crossbar in the shootout after missing his spot attempt.
However, Stanley Nwabali made two saves to ensure Jose Peseiro’s side advanced to the final.
Terem Moffi, Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, and Kelechi Iheanacho each scored a penalty.
Reacting in a video after the game, Ola Aina said, “these boys saved me. I don’t care.”
The Super Eagles will face Ivory Coast in the AFCON final on Sunday.
