NDC Urges INEC to Restore Omitted Candidates’ Names on 2027 Election List

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to urgently correct the omission of some of its candidates from the final list for the 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Leader and former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, made the appeal in a Facebook post on Thursday night, expressing confidence that the commission would resolve the issue without delay.

The NDC governorship candidates in Kano, Kaduna and Cross River States were missing from INEC’s final list of candidates published on Saturday.

Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, said the party had taken steps to address the omissions and assured affected candidates and supporters that efforts were ongoing.

He maintained that all the affected candidates had registered with the party within the statutory 21-day period required by law.

According to Dickson, the NDC fielded qualified candidates at all levels, from the presidential race to state Houses of Assembly, following what he described as a rigorous screening process.

He urged INEC to remedy the omissions promptly, adding that the party would continue consultations and campaign activities across the states while engaging the commission on the matter.

Dickson said the NDC would sustain its efforts until the names of all affected candidates were restored to the list.
