Remo Stars Coach Ogunmodede Frustrated After Draw with Rivers United

Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has voiced his disappointment following his team’s 1-1 draw against Rivers United in the opening fixture of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The match, played on Friday, saw the Sky Blue Stars share the spoils with Finidi George’s Rivers United in a closely contested encounter.

An early goal from Aniekem Okon gave Rivers United the lead just three minutes into the match. However, Remo Stars quickly responded, with Victor Mbaoma levelling the score six minutes later.

Despite earning a point, Ogunmodede admitted he had hoped for a better result.

“Personally, it was an important game for me because it was my 100th match as head coach of Remo Stars, and I really wanted to win it. But this is football,” the tactician said after the game.
