Odumodublvck Challenges Police Arrest Attempt at Event, Says Lawyers Had Resolved Matter

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck confronted police officers during an event on Saturday morning after they attempted to take him into custody.

A video circulating on social media shows the rapper engaged in a heated exchange with the officers, one of whom questioned why he was refusing to follow them.

The officer said an invitation had previously been sent to Odumodublvck and asked whether he was resisting arrest.

“Invitation was sent to you, it’s okay. What I want to ask you now, are you resisting an arrest? If you’re not resisting an arrest, tell me why you are not following the police?” the officer said.

Odumodublvck, however, disputed the officers’ authority to take him away from the venue.

The rapper said his lawyers had already intervened in the matter and questioned the officers’ jurisdiction.

“You don’t have any jurisdiction, that’s what you want to do. Don’t tell me to wait,” he said.

He further claimed that police officers had earlier visited his residence and allegedly instructed people within his estate not to notify him about the matter.

According to the rapper, he subsequently contacted his lawyers, who went to the police office to address the issue.

“My lawyers came to your office, I am not resisting arrest, it was attended to,” Odumodublvck said.

He also claimed that a court order prevented the police from removing him from the venue and alleged that the officers were attempting to restrict his ability to discuss the matter publicly.

“It is illegal to take me from here, my brother. You’re telling me not to tweet, not to speak,” he said.

The video ends with the rapper continuing to challenge the officers over the attempted arrest.

As of the time of filing this report, the specific reason for the police invitation, the identity of the officers involved and the alleged court order had not been independently established from the information available in the video.

The police have also not publicly responded to the claims made by the rapper in the footage.
