A renewed push to tackle insecurity is underway in Delta State as the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, unveils a security agenda focused on intelligence-led operations, community policing and greater public confidence in the police.
Erale, the 25th Commissioner of Police in the Delta State Police Command, pledged to intensify operations against kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, cybercrime, violent crimes, oil-related offences and other emerging threats.
In his maiden address on Tuesday, he said the Command would prioritise the protection of lives and property, crime prevention, the apprehension of offenders and rebuilding public trust in the police.
Erale identified discipline, community policing, inter-agency cooperation and proactive crime-fighting as key priorities, while promising zero tolerance for corruption, extortion and other forms of misconduct.
He also pledged to reward officers who demonstrate professionalism and commitment to duty.
The CP said the Command would strengthen partnerships with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women’s groups, religious institutions and other stakeholders to improve intelligence gathering and response to security threats.
He further promised closer cooperation with other security agencies to strengthen security operations across the state.
