Tributes are pouring in for former Edo State PDP chairman, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, following his death at the age of 64.
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the management of Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, described his passing as a major loss to the state and the country. Orbih, who died on Monday, August 31, was the Chairman of the Governing Council of AAU at the time of his death.
Governor Okpebholo described him as a bridge-builder, voice of reason and astute political leader who contributed to the development of Edo State and the university.
The governor said Orbih played an important role in strengthening relations between the state government and AAU, while advancing the institution’s developmental agenda.
The PDP described the late politician as a prominent statesman whose contributions to democratic governance and political development in Edo State and Nigeria remained significant. The party said Orbih was committed to party unity and public leadership throughout his decades of service.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of AAU, Professor Eunice Omonzejie, said his death had created a painful void within the university and beyond.
She described Orbih as a committed council chairman who championed academic excellence, good governance, institutional stability and the repositioning of the university.
The governor, PDP and university management extended their condolences to his family and prayed for strength for those mourning his death.
