Michael Owen backs Arsenal to retain Premier League title

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has tipped Arsenal to win the Premier League again this season.

Owen also shared his predictions for the top five and bottom three as the new campaign got underway, with reigning champions Arsenal opening with a 3-0 victory over Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium.

The former England international expects Chelsea to finish second, followed by Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

“I thought I’d post my season predictions for the top five and bottom three. A little bit out of the ordinary, but I didn’t just want to go for the usual and slightly boring ones.

“Top Five: Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Spurs. Bottom Three: Fulham, Ipswich Town, Hull City. Let me know your thoughts.”

Owen’s forecast leaves Manchester City outside the top five as the club enters its first season without Pep Guardiola since 2016. Enzo Maresca has taken charge following Guardiola’s departure at the end of last season.

His predictions also point to a potential turnaround for Chelsea and Tottenham, who endured difficult campaigns last term, finishing 10th and 17th respectively.
