Singer and songwriter Johnny Drille has revealed that his relationship with his wife, Rima Tahini, began during his time at Mavin Records.
Drille made the disclosure while speaking on The Right Hand podcast, where he reflected on the couple’s decision to keep their romance away from public attention for several years.
According to the singer, their relationship began around November or December 2018, but neither he nor Tahini publicly acknowledged it at the time.
The couple eventually made their relationship known in July 2023, by which point they had already been married.
Drille said maintaining the secrecy for years required considerable effort, given his profile in the Nigerian music industry.
“It wasn’t easy keeping it, but I’m grateful I met my wife at Mavin’s,” he said.
The singer explained that the public only became aware of their relationship in 2023, almost five years after they began dating.
He added that their marriage took place roughly one year and seven months before they publicly announced their relationship.
Looking back, Drille said he was struck by the amount of effort required to keep their relationship private for so long.
The singer expressed gratitude for meeting Tahini while he was affiliated with Mavin Records, describing the relationship as one of the significant personal developments from that period of his career.
Drille’s comments offer a rare glimpse into a relationship that remained largely outside the public eye despite his growing visibility as an artiste.
