INEC declares APC’s Nwifuru winner of Ebonyi governorship election

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ebonyi state, Francis Nwifuru, has been declared winner of the polls in the state.

Disclosing th results of the governorship contest, the State Returning Officer for INEC, Prof. Charles Igwe, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, said Nwifuru scored the highest number of votes cast.

Nwifuru secured 199,131 votes, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Odii, polled 80,191 votes.

The third runner-up, the All Progressives Grand Alliance governorship candidate, Benard Odoh, scored 52,189 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Nwifuru declared his unalloyed loyalty to the patriotic citizens of Ebonyi State for electing him and promised never to disappoint them.

Nwifuru, who is the current Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, described his victory as a victory for equity and justice.
