Amaechi Responds to Wike: ‘I Don’t Want to Join Issues with Children’

Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has responded to recent comments made by the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, by stating that he does not wish to “join issues with children.

The exchange stems from Wike’s remarks suggesting that Amaechi’s hunger was for political relevance rather than food, and asserting that he was instrumental in Amaechi’s rise to the governorship.

Amaechi challenged Wike’s narrative, questioning the basis of his claims and emphasizing that his ascension to the governorship was due to the efforts of God, former Governor Peter Odili, the judiciary, and the people of Rivers State.

He further clarified that he appointed Wike as Chief of Staff to supervise him, rejecting Wike’s request to be made Commissioner for Finance.

This public exchange highlights the ongoing political tensions between the two prominent figures in Rivers State politics, reflecting broader dynamics within the region’s political landscape.
