In preparation for the forthcoming elections, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has inaugurated a campaign council comprising more than 600 members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Kebbi State.
The council is expected to coordinate the party’s campaign activities across the state and mobilise support for all ADC candidates contesting the elections.
At the inauguration, Malami urged members to work together to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and expand its presence across local governments, wards and communities.
He said the council was established to coordinate the party’s campaign across the state and support all ADC candidates, rather than focus on a single elective position.
“This Campaign Council represents our collective ADC campaign. It is not about one candidate or one elective position. From the governorship to the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, we must work as one political family”, he said.
Malami also urged party leaders and supporters to avoid tribalism, sectionalism and internal rivalry, warning that such divisions could undermine the party’s electoral prospects.
He called for reconciliation and dialogue in resolving disagreements within the party, while charging members to remain focused on building a united political structure.
The former minister further urged the campaign council to mobilise supporters and take the ADC’s message to local governments, wards and communities across the state.
He tasked members with ensuring that the party’s campaign remained peaceful, lawful and issue-based, while discouraging hate speech, ethnic provocation and personal attacks against political opponents.
Malami said appointments to the campaign council should be regarded as a responsibility to serve rather than a reward, urging members to work collectively towards the party’s success in the elections.
