VP Shettima Attends 31st Nigerian Economic Summit Amid Push for Reform-Driven Growth

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday led key government and private sector leaders at the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit (NES31), as Nigeria continues to navigate a critical phase of economic reform and recovery.

The summit, held in Abuja, is themed:
“The Reform Imperative: Building a Prosperous and Inclusive Nigeria by 2030.”

In attendance were prominent figures including:

  • Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy
  • Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning
  • Members of the National Assembly
  • Industry leaders and development partners
  • Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Emir of Kano and former CBN Governor

The gathering reflects a growing consensus on the need for broad-based reforms to drive sustainable economic growth and inclusion.

Summit Objectives

NES31 is focused on: consolidating economic reforms already initiated by the Tinubu administration, balancing macroeconomic stability with inclusive development, encouraging collaboration between the public and private sectors and shaping Nigeria’s path toward a prosperous and equitable future by 2030.

The event offers a platform for open dialogue on reform priorities such as: Investment climate improvements, social protection, infrastructure expansion, Industrialisation and job creation and Monetary and fiscal alignment.

The summit comes at a pivotal time as Nigeria grapples with:

  • Currency depreciation

  • Fuel subsidy removal
