TikToker Faces N50m Lawsuit After Viral Video on Bread’s Shelf Life

A TikTok user identified as Love has revealed that she is facing a N50 million lawsuit after posting a viral video questioning the shelf life of a loaf of bread that appeared unchanged after two months.
In the widely circulated clip, the content creator expressed concern that the bread still looked and smelled fresh weeks after it was purchased. She maintained that the video did not mention any specific brand or display a product label.
However, in a follow-up post, Love said she was served a legal notice by solicitors representing Bon Bread. She also claimed the company reached out to her via direct message shortly after the video gained traction online.
According to her account, the legal action came as a surprise since she had deliberately avoided identifying any manufacturer in the original content. She noted that while viewers pressed her in the comment section to reveal the brand, others speculated and shared personal experiences with various bread products.
Recounting the sequence of events, the TikToker said she had been careful not to disclose any identifying details in the video, even as discussions intensified among viewers. She added that the message from the company arrived the day after her post began trending.
The development highlights growing tensions between social media commentary and corporate reputation, as user-generated content continues to influence public perception of products.
As of the time of filing this report, Bon Bread has not publicly responded to the claims.
