Toyin Abraham Draws Legal Line Against Online Reports, Threatens Defamation Action

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has threatened to take legal action against bloggers, influencers and other social media users over the circulation of claims she considers false and damaging to her reputation.
Her legal representatives issued a cease-and-desist notice dated November 5, warning individuals and media platforms against publishing or sharing unverified reports about the actress.
The notice, signed by her lawyer, Tope Salami, described the disputed publications as misleading and potentially harmful to Abraham’s professional image, personal integrity and business interests.
Abraham shared the document on her X account on Thursday, urging members of the public to read its contents carefully.
In the notice, her lawyers demanded that those involved stop publishing, reposting or promoting statements they consider defamatory across social media and other communication channels.
They also called for the removal of existing posts, videos, comments and other materials containing the alleged false claims.
The legal team warned against creating or circulating fabricated allegations and content intended to ridicule, harass or undermine the actress’s reputation.
It further stated that anyone who continues to publish or amplify such material after receiving the warning could face legal proceedings.
According to the notice, relevant online publications, videos, comments and other digital records may be preserved as evidence for possible litigation.
Salami also argued that freedom of expression does not extend to the unlawful publication of false statements that damage another person’s reputation.
The warning comes amid renewed online discussions involving Abraham and fellow actress Funke Akindele.
In October 2026, an alleged private audio conversation involving Abraham and a TikTok user identified as Bisgold circulated online, triggering reactions over remarks reportedly made about Akindele.
However, the authenticity and full context of the recording have not been independently established.
Abraham’s legal representatives urged the public to verify information before sharing it and called for responsible commentary about the actress.
The notice did not identify specific individuals or platforms targeted by the warning, but made clear that the actress was prepared to pursue legal remedies over publications she considers defamatory.
