2027: No vacancy for ADC in Kebbi Govt House – Gov Idris’s aide

The Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on Politics, Kabiru Sani Giant, has dismissed the possibility of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) winning the state’s governorship election in 2027.

Giant, who spoke with journalists, questioned the opposition party’s suitability for governance, accusing its supporters of vandalising billboards and vehicles belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a recent presidential campaign in Kebbi State.

He alleged that the destruction occurred after the ADC campaign convoy arrived in the state from Sokoto, prompting concerns over the safety of government and party property.

According to him, APC supporters were asked to protect public and party assets in Birnin Kebbi following the reported incidents. He maintained that the ruling party did not instruct its members to attack the opposition, describing some of the clashes recorded in certain areas as acts of self-defence.

Giant also accused the ADC governorship candidate of seeking the state’s top political office to obtain immunity from prosecution over alleged corruption charges reportedly filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He described the candidate’s ambition as unrealistic, expressing confidence that Kebbi voters would support Governor Nasir Idris for another term based on what he described as his administration’s performance.

The governor’s aide further urged ADC supporters to defect to the APC, citing a recent court judgment which he claimed had invalidated the candidacies of politicians aligned with the David Mark-led faction of the opposition party.

However, his remarks and allegations reflect the position of the governor’s aide and have not been independently established in the statement provided.
