Nollywood Rallies Around Ogogo as Daughters Seek Urgent Cancer Care

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has received support from colleagues after his daughters publicly appealed for urgent medical assistance in his battle with stage-four cancer.
The actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made separate appeals on Instagram on Monday, seeking help from Nigerians and medical professionals who could connect their father with appropriate specialists and treatment options.
The sisters stressed that their request was not for financial donations but for medical guidance and access to specialised care.
Lima reportedly said some hospitals had declined to continue treating their father, while Kira disclosed that doctors at their current hospital had told the family chemotherapy was no longer an option there.
The appeals prompted prominent members of the film industry to step forward.
Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo called on members of the public to help the family find oncologists, hospitals and other medical professionals who could assess Hassan’s condition and advise on possible treatment avenues.
Adebayo also clarified that the family was not seeking money, urging anyone with useful connections within the oncology field to contact the family.
Actress Toyin Abraham joined the appeal on Tuesday, sharing a video featuring Hassan’s daughters and asking people who could assist to reach out to the family.
Hassan, 66, is one of the longstanding figures in Yoruba-language cinema and has spent more than four decades working in Nigeria’s film industry. He has appeared in more than 300 films and has built a reputation as an actor, filmmaker and producer.
The public appeal has since drawn attention to the veteran actor’s health situation, with colleagues and members of the public being encouraged to focus on finding appropriate medical expertise for his case.
The family’s request remains centred on securing medical intervention and specialist direction rather than financial assistance.
