Ten Hag Determined to Block Xhaka’s Move Amid Milan Talks

Bayer Leverkusen manager Erik ten Hag is determined to prevent Granit Xhaka from leaving the club this summer.

The Swiss midfielder is currently in talks with Italian giants AC Milan regarding a potential transfer during the upcoming window.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Ten Hag is keen to retain Xhaka’s services in order to maintain a level of experience within his squad, particularly after several high-profile departures.

Leverkusen has already seen manager Xabi Alonso, as well as key players Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah, exit the club. Additionally, Florian Wirtz is on the verge of completing a move to Liverpool, with only official confirmation pending from both clubs.

Despite ongoing discussions between Xhaka’s representatives and AC Milan—and the player’s reported openness to a new challenge in Serie A—Ten Hag remains resolute in his desire to keep the former Arsenal star at the BayArena.

Xhaka, now 32, is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2028.
