Poland Protesters Demand Regulation As AI Threatens Jobs

The growing presence of artificial intelligence and robots in the workplace has come under scrutiny in Poland, as protesters took to the streets demanding measures to protect workers.

The demonstration was organised by Democratism, an initiative raising concerns over how AI and robotisation could affect the labour market.

Organiser Grzegorz Kulis warned that AI and humanoid robotics could replace humans in cognitive roles if regulations are not introduced quickly.

Kulis said the active robots showcased at the rally demonstrated their current capabilities and underscored the urgent need for stronger worker protections.

Poland’s Digital Affairs Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, visited the rally and discussed concerns over uncontrolled AI models and the development of humanoid robots with organisers.

The demonstration follows Poland’s implementation of the EU’s AI Act, which established a national authority to enforce regional AI governance rules.
