More than 150 terrorists, including commanders, fighters and affiliates, have surrendered to the military in the North-East within one week, following intensified military operations, a sharp increase from the more than 50 terrorists who surrendered in the previous week.
Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, attributed the development to sustained intelligence-led operations, increased military pressure and coordinated kinetic and non-kinetic measures.
He said the operations were restricting terrorists’ movement, disrupting their logistics and weakening their ability to sustain fighters in their enclaves.
“The significant increase reflects the cumulative impact of sustained intelligence-led operations, intensified military pressure and coordinated kinetic and non-kinetic efforts aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and encouraging voluntary disengagement from terrorism”, Goni said.
He added that weapons and ammunition recovered from some of those who surrendered further demonstrated the impact of the military pressure.
Goni said Operation Hadin Kai’s combination of intelligence-driven operations, strategic communication and civil-military engagement was helping to disrupt terrorist networks and encourage more fighters to abandon terrorism.
He said all those who surrendered had been profiled and documented in line with established procedures and applicable laws.
The military said it would sustain the pressure on terrorist groups, disrupt their recruitment and logistics networks and create conditions for lasting peace and security in the North-East.
