Ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, President Bola Tinubu has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible poll.
Fifteen candidates are contesting the election, including incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, APC candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and African Democratic Congress candidate Hon. Najeem Salaam.
Tinubu urged INEC to uphold the integrity of the electoral process, while charging security agencies to protect voters and electoral officials and prevent any disruption of the exercise.
The President also encouraged Osun residents to come out and exercise their civic responsibility without fear or intimidation, assuring them of adequate security before, during and after the election.
He further urged INEC to use the off-cycle election to demonstrate its preparedness for the 2027 general elections, stressing that the outcome must reflect the will of the people.
