Ola Aina’s Starting Role at Risk as Nottingham Forest Bid £25m for Man City’s Rico Lewis

Super Eagles full-back Ola Aina may face increased competition for his place at Nottingham Forest next season, as the Premier League side reportedly submitted a £25 million bid for Manchester City’s highly-rated youngster Rico Lewis.

Forest, who will feature in the UEFA Europa League following a recent ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), are actively strengthening their squad ahead of a demanding campaign.

Despite recently extending the contracts of both Aina and playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White, the club has been busy in the transfer market. While winger Anthony Elanga departed for Newcastle United, Forest have brought in Dan Ndoye, Igor Jesus, and Jair Cunha over the summer window.

According to French outlet Footmercato, Forest have expressed serious interest in Lewis, offering a package worth approximately £25 million — including £4.3 million in add-ons. However, the proposal has reportedly been rejected by Manchester City.

The 20-year-old, who already boasts five caps for the England national team, is known for his versatility and ability to operate both as a full-back and in midfield. His potential arrival could pose a challenge to Aina’s starting position as Forest look to build depth across multiple positions.
