Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has identified Inter Miami star and global football icon Lionel Messi as the greatest player in history.
The teenage winger shared his thoughts ahead of the highly anticipated Finalissima showdown between Spain and Argentina scheduled for March 2026, where he could face Messi on the international stage.
Speaking during an interview, the 18-year-old Spanish international reflected on Messi’s legendary status and the prospect of competing against him.
Yamal said (via Barca Universal): “I think that Lionel Messi is the best footballer of all time, but he also knows that I’m a good player.
“There will be mutual respect if we play against each other.
“He knows that I am not trying to be him, to play like him, or wear the number 10 like him. I want to be my own,” he added.
Messi, currently captain of Inter Miami, remains the most decorated footballer in the world with a record 47 trophies across his extraordinary career.
The potential duel between Messi and Yamal is already generating intense global interest, as fans look forward to witnessing a meeting between the game’s biggest legend and one of football’s brightest emerging talents.
