Japan captain Honoka Yotsumoto says her team are determined to lift the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup trophy when they face Nigeria’s Flamingos in Saturday’s final.
Sadayoshi Shirai’s side are chasing their first title in the competition after an impressive run in Morocco, winning all six matches, including challenging encounters against Ghana and North Korea.
Yotsumoto says the team are confident of completing their campaign with a historic victory.
“We’ve managed to overcome barriers that had held us back for so long, one step at a time – that has given us a lot of confidence.
“Now we have just one more match to win, and we’re determined to make history,” she told FIFA.
