Court to Rule June 27 on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Suspension

The Federal High Court has set June 27 to deliver judgment in a suit filed by suspended Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is challenging her suspension by the Senate over alleged misconduct.

The case, now handled by Justice Binta Nyako, involves key defendants including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Senate Committee on Ethics.

During Monday’s hearing, lawyers for the Senate accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of contempt, citing a satirical letter she allegedly posted on social media.

Her legal team denied any connection to the letter, while also reminding the court of a prior motion accusing the Senate of disobeying court orders.

The verdict is expected to test the limits of legislative power and due process in Nigeria’s upper chamber.
