Burna Boy Distances Himself from Meme Coin, Labels It a Scam

The Grammy-winning artist urges fans to report fraudulent crypto schemes using his name, declaring zero involvement in coin promotions.

Afrobeats superstar and Grammy Award winner Burna Boy has publicly disassociated himself from a meme coin circulating online under his name, stating categorically that he has no ties to any form of cryptocurrency promotion.

The coin, which has been gaining attention on X (formerly Twitter), appears to be using the artist’s name and likeness to attract unsuspecting investors. However, Burna Boy took to Instagram to clarify his stance and warn his fans.

“I don’t do any internet ‘coin’ business. I see it as fraud and I have no interest in any of that,” he wrote. “So if you see anyone using my name for such, please disregard or report them.”

The singer’s statement comes amidst a growing trend of digital scams involving celebrities’ identities being used without consent to push dubious crypto ventures.

Burna Boy’s response is a firm rejection of any association with the project, reinforcing his position against internet-based financial schemes. Fans are being urged to remain vigilant and report any fraudulent content related to the coin.

The artist’s move is a notable example of celebrities taking a stand against the misuse of their image in the increasingly murky world of online finance.
