Bovi Opens Up About Healing Family Wounds and Reconciling with Late Father

Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi has opened up about the emotional struggles within his family, revealing that negative energy has been a recurring pattern passed down through generations.
Speaking during the first live edition of the WithChude podcast, Bovi reflected on his difficult relationship with his late father, who passed away in February 2025. He described their bond as strained, shaped largely by inherited negativity.
“What made my relationship with my father difficult is what people call family patterns—or what the church refers to as ‘generational curses,’” Bovi said. “My father gave me what he had, and what he had was a lot of negative energy. That was passed down to him too. But I’ve chosen to be the stop.”
The comedian shared that for a long time, he spoke about their relationship from a place of bitterness, portraying himself as the victim of a loveless upbringing. But with time came growth—and forgiveness.
“Long before he passed, I had already forgiven him,” he said. “He had been ill since 2021, and my siblings and I cared for him with love. For me, it wasn’t a struggle—I did it wholeheartedly.”
By breaking the cycle, Bovi says he’s working to change the narrative for future generations in his family, embracing healing over resentment.
