The All Progressives Congress (APC), has challenged former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to present detailed alternatives to the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said criticism of the government’s policies was not enough, arguing that Atiku should explain how he would address the country’s economic challenges and improve living conditions.
Morka spoke on a televised interview while reacting to Atiku’s calls for lower petrol prices and measures to ease the cost of living.
He also defended the removal of the petrol subsidy, saying major presidential candidates in the 2023 election had supported its removal.
Morka acknowledged the hardship facing Nigerians but maintained that the reforms were aimed at addressing long-standing structural problems.
He also defended the government’s foreign exchange reforms, arguing that the harmonisation of exchange rates was necessary to support economic recovery.
The APC spokesperson further questioned how Atiku would fund proposals to reduce the cost of petrol, electricity and other essential services, stressing that every policy promise comes with a financial cost.
